Adding your first transaction

Using Quick Add (recommended)

Quick Add is the fastest way to record a transaction on mobile.

1. 1Tap the "+" button on the bottom navigation bar.
2. 2A bottom sheet slides up with a number pad.
3. 3Type the amount (e.g., 4.50).
4. 4Tap a category chip — the most likely categories appear first based on time of day and your history.
5. 5Optionally add a note by tapping the text field.
6. 6Tap "Save". Done.

Using the full transaction form

For transactions that need more detail, use the full form.

1. 1From Quick Add, tap "More details" at the bottom, or navigate to Transactions → Add.
2. 2Fill in: amount, type (expense/income/transfer), category, account, date, and note.
3. 3Optionally attach a receipt photo or tag the transaction.
4. 4Tap "Save".

Other ways to add transactions

Beyond manual entry, Finaps supports three additional input methods: receipt scanning (take a photo and let OCR extract the details), voice input (describe the transaction and AI parses it), and bank sync (transactions import automatically from connected bank accounts). Each method lands on a review screen so you can verify before saving.
