We're excited to announce one of our most requested features: voice input for transactions. Starting today, you can add expenses and income simply by speaking naturally to Finaps.
Here's how it works: tap the microphone icon on the Quick Add sheet, and speak naturally. Say something like "Spent $42.50 at Whole Foods on groceries" or "Got paid $3,200 from salary." Our AI-powered pipeline handles the rest — extracting the amount, merchant, category, and date from your natural speech.
Under the hood, we use OpenAI's Whisper model for speech-to-text transcription, achieving over 97% accuracy across accents and languages. The transcribed text then passes through our NLP extraction pipeline, which identifies key entities: amounts, dates, merchants, and spending categories.
The feature supports all seven languages available in Finaps: English, Azerbaijani, Russian, Turkish, German, French, and Spanish. You can even mix languages in a single utterance — say "Spent 50 manat on taksi" and Finaps will correctly parse the amount, currency, and category.
Before any transaction is saved, you'll see a review screen showing what Finaps understood. You can quickly edit any field that needs correction, then confirm with a single tap. Over time, the system learns from your corrections and becomes more accurate for your specific speech patterns.
